How to read the saturation data

Every niche in the index carries two numbers that decide whether it is worth your design time. Demand scores search and buying interest from 0 to 100: it blends marketplace search signals, shopper intent and how consistently the niche sells across the year. Saturation scores how crowded the niche already is, also from 0 to 100, by counting how many active sellers and near-identical designs a buyer sees on the first two result pages of Redbubble, Etsy and Amazon Merch.

A niche at demand 70 and saturation 45 is worth entering today: enough people are searching, and a competent design can reach page one within weeks. The same demand at saturation 90 means you are competing against thousands of listings with established review counts, so a new design usually never surfaces. That is why we flag the demand-60-and-above, saturation-60-and-below combination as the sweet spot on every result card, and why the low-saturation view exists as its own page.

The 7-day trend tells you which direction the niche is moving. A positive trend on a medium-saturation niche is the strongest signal in the dataset, because you are entering while interest is still climbing rather than at the tail of a spike. A negative trend on a high-demand niche usually means a seasonal window just closed. Average price shows what buyers in that niche actually pay, which tells you whether to design for t-shirts and stickers or for higher-ticket products like posters and metal prints.

What to do once you find a winning niche

Open the niche report and read the top keywords before you design anything. Those keywords are what buyers type, and they belong in your title, tags and description in that exact wording — not paraphrased. Redbubble gives you 50 tags, Etsy 13 tags of 20 characters each, and Amazon Merch 250 characters of bullet copy, so the same niche needs three different keyword arrangements rather than one copy-paste.

Then design for the buyer persona in the report, not for a general audience. A niche like night-shift nurse converts on inside jokes that only that group recognises; a generic nurse graphic competes with every other generic nurse graphic. Ship three to five variations of the same idea and let the marketplace tell you which angle earns impressions.

Finally, publish to more than one marketplace. The same design file, retagged per platform, multiplies your impressions without multiplying your design work, and the comparison pages show where the fees and payout terms leave you the better margin for that product type.
